KRISHI
VIGYAN KENDRA - An Innovative Institution
Krishi Vigyan Kendra
(KVK), the Farm Science Centres are unique and innovative science
based institution for the transfer of agricultural technology. It
is essentially an institute devoted towards upliftment of socio-economic
condition of the farming community through training and motivation.
It provides practical approach to training through "Learning by Doing"
or "Seeing is Believing" and emphasises on creation of avenues of
self employment to the young farmers' school dropouts and rural women
through training on entrepreneurship development. KVK is one of the
project of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for
technology transfer to serve as a link between research services and
the users of research findings including extension services, development
agencies and farmers themselves. It is basically a mechanism to demonstrate
the application of science and technology for creating awareness and
motivating farmers to adopt modern production and management technological
options of various agricultural enterprises through vocational training
to farming community, in-service training to extension functionaries,
Front Line Demonstration (FLD) and On-Farm Testing (OFT) of new technology
based on location specific production systems and agro ecological
situations
THE
KVK KOKRAJHAR
Krishi Vigyan Kendra
in Kokrajhar district of Assam was established by the Assam Agricultural
University at Telipara, Gossaigaon in the 29th May of 1985. The geographical
position of the KVK is 26o4/ N latitude, 89o9/
E longitude and altitude is 48.12 m above mean sea level. It is 277
km away from Guwahati, the capital of Assam and can be reached by
bus or train. The KVK is situated by the side of the National Highway
- 31C, in between Gossaigaon town and Srirampur and about 5 km away
from both bus and rail station
