Attracting and Retaining Youth in Agriculture (ARYA)
Attracting and retaining youth in agriculture was a central Government project which was first
implemented in KVK Kokrajhar since March 2018-19 where unemployed/migrated youth belongs to 18-35 years were enrolled.
The project has mainly four components which are as follows:
1. Scientific method of Eri silkworm rearing and cocoon production.
2. Scientific method of pig farming.
3. Organic stevia cultivation
4. Organic oyster mushroom production.
From 2018 to 2023 a total of 316 youth were enrolled forming 65 units covering 51 numbers
of villages. Almost all units are comprising of 5 youths and able to run their unit in
sustainable manner. However, infrastructure/rearing house/pigsty; climates and heavy rain;
poor economic conditions and machineries are some of the concerns to be address
